A lot can happen to a person in the space of only a couple of years.  Since I published the first portion of Journey of Hope in the summer of 2009, the most significant occurrence was the death of my Daddy in May 2010.  No event in all my life has had such a grave and sustaining impact.  I miss him every single day.   Earlier that same year, the granddog he loved so much, my Sonny, had to have surgery to repair a torn ACL in his knee.  He was in the process of recovering when Daddy died.  I discovered that the years from 2009 to 2011 would hold much grief as well as much promise, much loss as well as much gain.  Although I lost the father who had been my stalwart support for my entire life, at the same time I gained friends who would become my stalwart support for this new season in my life.  I also made new connections with old friends and moved into a new home.  Most importantly, I learned that I could make a new life for myself and Sonny.
